I think we need to draw a distinction here. Harris means "Failure you can recover from" and not "Failure that will put you into ruin." Part of learning how to handle failure is knowing when to quit on an idea. Don't put you or your family at risk for a single idea.

So true Harris. I'm in my 50's and I can say with proof as my witness that the only way to be successfull is to embrace failure...over and over, and over again.

When I was in high school I got into a bad crowd of people. I failed the same grade 2 times because I really just didn't do anything and I put my parents through hell. I lost a lot of friends and worst of all I lost confidence in myself. I eventually made some real friends and I managed to get my grades back enough to pass and eventually graduate, however, I never forgot what it is was like to fail like that. It changes you and I forgot how much that affected me till I watched this video today. Failure really is the best teacher.

One of my tiktoks I planned for hours only has 8 likes on it. Friends tell me it's good, and I failed. But it's okay, I never took it to heart. Rather I'm glad my friends thought it was cool at least. Thanks Harris, I'll try again with what you said in mind.

I just cant seem to get over my fear of failure, the anxiety of wanting to succeed so badly after a long list of past, usually unrelated failures weighs down on me so heavily that I just feel worthless. I want that one thing that grounds me and makes me feel like I have purpose and matter, but i cant take failure anymore, it crushes my soul and has gotten to the point where as dumb as it may sound, i just dont want to be anymore. I walk my way as a replaceable cog doing low skill labor for a paycheck that barely covers my needs and just look at everyone flying by doing amazing things.

I dont know... I just wish failure wasn't so scary and hurtful.

This! I am saving this and showing it to my students when I am a teacher. The teachers are having a hard time teaching students that it is ok to be wrong. And that some answers aren't always just one!

Now this is some true, real and deep psychology stuff. And I definitely agree and relate to it. Cuz Iā€™ve always had an idea to do something, thinking itā€™s going to be cool and awesome, but never actually start doing it. So I definitely relate to Harrisā€™s statement. Good luck with the newborn baby. Hope it all goes well.
