I've also heard so many people say that "you don't just invite 1 half of a married couple", which I can agree with unless the 2nd half is like an abusiver or something like that, then I think it should be ok to not include the other person (doesn't necessarily make it right either way)

I'm sure she isn't trying to be mean (hopefully) but it depends on everyone else tbh. If all the rest of the close fam and friends can bring a + one, that definitely looks targeted. At my momâs wedding(re-marriage)she said on the invitations that the person could bring a plus one.One of the guest said they would not bring anyone else and then the day of the wedding they brought someone else and they left as soon as the vows were over.to make matters worse,usually u give the bride and groom champagne or something,but this kid gave them nothing!

It doesn't sound like she's on good terms with her brother. She even said she felt obligated to invite him. So I take it as they are estranged for whatever reason. She should have just stuck to her guns and not invited her brother to the wedding. Since we don't know why they are estranged it doesn't matter if her brother is married to a man or woman since she didn't want him around in the first place. Not every conflict within a family that has a gay relative has anything to do with being homophobic.
