1080p has absolutely nothing to do with audio. It's the amount of horizontal lines assuming an aspect ratio of 16:9(widescreen).
HD audio has been around for almost a decade. 192-kHz 32-bit is the best available but almost no one uses it mostly because humans can't hear above 22-bits. And no electronics are capable of producing over 22 bits either.

I meant to respond to Elixer6x6x6 argument that humans can't hear the difference between 720p and 1080p audio. I was trying to show him he had the right idea but the wrong terminology.
