That should be a FAA video depicting what a total cluster of bad decisions gets you.

Weird to think we're literally watching his last 60 seconds of life.

RIP, brother.

I heard fatal mistake and my immediate thought was "does this guy know what fatal mistake means?", and then the short ended. Damn. He meant it.

Thanks for giving us the story clear cut. No bs, no crap, and fatal in title actually meant fatal, no exaggeration. Sorry for the pilot and condolences to his family for their loss.

I didn't know he meant a "fatal mistake," literally. RIP, pilot.

So sad. I hope the surviving passenger recovered completely.

The passenger in this crash commented on another channel that featured this video. He said, the plane was licenced as Experimental due to the addition of floats to a non float aircraft. It was very newly purchased by the pilot from someone else who modified it. The passenger noted that previous flights in the day showed the aircraft to have fairly poor take-off performance both on water and land. The pilot had made many landings/takeoffs at this strip in the past with other aircraft and was "confident" all was going to be ok. After a number of bad decisions (including the one to take off in the first place), the rest is history.

10,000 hours. The only thing that’s more dangerous than inexperience is comfortability. You get complacent and make mistakes.

Man had a full year and a half’s worth of flight hours logged. It probably took him at least 5 years, probably more to gain that much time in the cockpit. Just goes to show that even experts/highly trained people can make mistakes, always gotta stay vigilant.

Lesson:
It doesn't make any difference how smart you are or how much experience you have earned. It only takes one minor mistake to take a life and end a career.

It's extremely important, but difficult, to fight the urge to pull back when you should be pushing forward to bring the nose down and gain airspeed.

I was about to say "fatal means deadly, so it wasn't quite fatal", but holy shit it actually was💀

That is so tough, hearing the observer know what's happening and being unable to stop it

The American flag is waving to the left of the flag pole. While near stall speed, pilot banked left away from level flight, and turned downwind. Both contributed to loss of lift.

While in the forest service in Idaho, one Sunday morning early while driving along the Salmon River I saw a single engine Cessna with three passengers on board fly into a hillside killing all on board. The pilot became disoriented when he flew into a "water dog" cloud of mist and headed up a short blind canyon thinking it was the river canyon. I was several hundred yards away and watched the whole thing happen. The pilot was supposed to have been an experienced Alaskan bush pilot.
To be human is to make mistakes no matter how experienced you are. May they rest in peace.

Bro that’s like saying “he pulled up the landing gear 0.00001 millisecond too late he’s gonna get fired”

I think he could have still recover it right after clearing the trees. Going straight instead of trying to climb. It was probably caused by fear. Disclaimer: I'm just an armchair pilot

That’s so tragic for his family to have a recording of that.
