This is great as long as you never sell your home. Ran into a project like this doing demo, let’s just say that the previous owners are being sued for doing this because absolutely none of it was done to code. Best to run furring strips and do it PROPERLY.

That is not dot and dabbing, what you're doing here is dabbing. The dots you let set on the wall 1st, let it go off then boards get pushed up to dots and held with dabs. Dots take time to set/ adjust to wall imperfections.
