The Truth is something people think they want until they get it. Honesty has never not been a double edged sword for me. It seems that I always get hit by it. Eventually you realize people only want to hear what they said parroted back to them, and when you give them that and they like it you learn through positive reinforcement that that's what works.

People pleasers dont realize theyre taking away the other persons ability to choose who they want to be with. They chose the person you pretended to be now you want to be a victim when they dont want to stay with the person you are. Illogical on all fronts.

BAD ADVICE!!!!!!! I tried this with my narcissistic dad - told him I didn't feel like going driving with him, and he immediately burst into rage, triggering me to do the same. I REGRET speaking up. THIS is why I am a people pleaser, so don't give crap advice like this that only ends up hurting me. It's better to lie than tell the truth which is like STABBING yourself in the heart

I agree with the thesis that as long as cooler heads prevail and trust is present that catastrophe can be avoided when disagreement occurs. Unfortunately, in recent years I have seen people divorce, disown family, and lose jobs over such petty differences as political opinions. Is there not value in holding ones tongue to avoid this?
