So I'm Swiss and just wanted you all to know that the old swiss confederacy wasn't formed 1291 out of Uri, Schwyz und Unterwalden. The Rütlischwur isn't a myth but it didn't form the confederacy. A later agreement made in like 1308 was it I believe.

It should be noted that in Julius Caesar's conquest of Gaul he fought against the Helvetii who wanted to move out of their mountainous home. The Helvetii lost and eventually gave their name to the Helvetian Confederacy. In one of the peace treaties ending a major war in Europe, all nations were prevented from hiring Swiss mercenaries except as house guard - which was done by the king of France and the Vatican.
