Wrong..some Teslas have LFP batteries that you can charge 100% for daily use.

Doing it one time isn’t a big deal at all, just not everyday

You can charge regular Lithium ion batteries to 100% if you drive the car afterwards. It just shouldnt be stored at or close to 100%

I have always been charging my phones to 100% for the last 20 years and never had a problem or replaced a battery.

It is true that supercharging to 100% every time may degrade your battery but thats not something you need to worry about in short term. You are most likely looking at 100’s of thousands of miles before that would happen.

Dont treat charging to 100% like a sin, do it if you need it and enjoy your vehicle. Its not going to have a significant impact on health unless you are constantly filling and emptying the battery for years. If you need 100%, then go to 100%, if not charge to 70-90% or as needed

I have been charging my Samsung galaxy phone to 100% daily, for over six years and i hardly notice a reduction in battery performance.

You can charge any number of times to 100%. What is bad for batteries is keeping in 100% for a long time.

You can charge to 100% on these batteries you just shouldn't keep them there for long

Context: You can absolutely charge upto 100%, but you shouldn’t do it consistently. One off for road trips etc is fine. Also note that regenerative braking may not work for brief period of time when charge is at 100%.

I have charged my Mercedes E Class Diesel to 100% regularly, for a range of 650 miles. It still works perfectly and is 16 years old.I can also tow a 7.5 metre caravan 300 miles with it and still have 1/4 charge left when I arrive at my destination.

I charged to 100% 42 times in the past 22 months. At currently 71,500 kms, its only degraded 3.47% and lost 20kms. '22 M3LR

It degrades the battery at a standard rate if you charge it to 100% every time, so if you do it sometimes it's perfectly fine. Also the battery still will last quite a bit. You are not damaging anything, you are just NOT extending it's life.

If you shouldn’t charge to 100% then car system / battery management system shouldn’t let you

if you're TESLA is NMC lithium ion, the recommend charging is upto 80-90%.. however, if your TESLA batteries are LFP, then it doesn't matter if you charge to 100%.. hope that's clear to all..

For daily use it's best to just charge to what you need, for most people this is probably closer to 50%. It is recommended to charge to 100% every 6 months or so though

@vicO1323

Why doesn't the charger shut off at 90% if it's so high tech?

@GhostV8

Batteries are better being cycled between 30-80%. Anything past that will degrade the battery faster with time.
