At just above freezing at 70mph, the heating likely set hot and that headwind on the return i could see how he barely got 2miles/kWh. His biggest issue is using the guessometer. Dose any ICE driver pay attention to the range estimates most ICE cars show? We have a small ICE as a spare and it's shows circa 600km when full but normally barely gets 500. My BEV shows circa 400 when full and i get circa 300 from 80%. it's only gotten freezing here this week though.

You need a more in depth winter range test now 😅 I would definitely watch if you can recreate hoovies range test #butbetter ⚡️ ⚡

Well, that's two differences. US models have never had "gasometer"s and, in Hoovie land. 2°C is about 35°F and that's actually quite WARM for winter. In Vermont we often have -20°F with a 20°F windchill, so that's -40° on either scale. Flesh sticks to bare metal and traditional ICE cars actually need over 20 seconds to build safe oil pressure.

The range he was getting likely would be 140-150 miles on a full charge. Which to me sounds reasonable considering ford doesn’t have a heat pump. At the end of the day tho hoovey isn’t a car review channel and I would be willing to bet he did that for click bait. He likely was planning on getting a hummer ev all along.

So a couple of things. Driving an EV does require changes in habits vs a gas truck. As Hoovie said he purposely made the range worse by starting with it off grid and cold. Also his F150 lightning uses a resistive heater vs the heat pump that the higher models use. This is done to save cost but I think it's a mistake by the manufacturers because it can make winter driving challenging, but also is a mistake from the buyers point of view of not understanding what they're buying and how it's impacted.
Finally gas trucks also loose range in cold weather, it's just not as severe and less noticable due to time to refuel, vs electric.
But in the end EV lovers will say he did it wrong, and he biased the video against the EV and EV haters will use this to justify their position that unless it works exactly like their current ride is all conditions they would never be seen dead in one. Prime example of confirmation bias.
