What’s your go-to shot placement for deer hunting? Double lung for a sure but longer track, or high shoulder for an instant drop? Both have their pros and cons—accuracy, ethics, and recovery all come into play. Which one would you choose?

Double lung is more effective and less painfull! Shoulder shot can be bad of the shot placement but this can be effective if you have a powerfull weapon!

Shoulder is not a" good" shot, really. You need to be closer and have the correct bullet to do so on an elk. I would have to say either with correct caliber. But with good shot placement, you could easily do both in the same shot. Best to double lung heart shot. Also great shots, one crumbled on spot the other turned to run and die.
