Goan-style Cafreal Stuffed Pomfret
Ingredients:
- 3 medium pomfret (cleaned)
- Salt, to taste
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- Juice of 1 lemon
Cafreal Masala:
- 2 cup coriander leaves
- 1/2 cup mint leaves
- 5-6 green chillies
- 1-inch ginger
- 9-10 garlic cloves
- 1/2 tsp cumin, pepper, cloves, and cinnamon (each)
- 2 tbsp vinegar
- Salt, to taste
For Frying:
- 6-7 tbsp rice flour
- 1/2 tsp turmeric, chilli powder, and salt
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
1. Prepare Fish: Make a deep pocket on one side and slits on the other. Marinate with salt, turmeric, and lemon juice for 15-20 mins.
2. Make Masala: Blend all masala ingredients into a thick paste.
3. Stuff & Coat: Coat the fish generously with the cafreal masala, ensuring it covers all sides. Fill the masala into the pocket and spread a bit into the slits as well to enhance the flavor.
Mix the rice flour, turmeric, chilli powder, and salt, and coat the paplet well in this mixture.
4. Fry: Shallow fry in oil for 10-12 mins per side until golden and cooked.
