I actually break a lot of snap on chromies. They crack alot and always crack the same way. Ive actually cracked a lot more snap on chromies than I ever have my tekton chromies. Snap on makes great tools, but they arent all winners and most the time are extremely overpriced. There are much cheaper high quality tools out there. I actually really like proto chrome sockets. They are really really great usa sockets for the money. Tekton chrome sockets are the best Taiwanese chrome sockets in my opinion. I also really really like koken and tone sockets.

That’s why I only buy impact sockets, crome sockets are for non rusted nuts and bolts

Brand new icon vs however old snap on? Hardly seems fair. I love icon, but gotta show the usage over time…a husky socket would work for this job too; but how long will it last?

Problem is whats there return policy? Whats there customer service like ? This why i stick with snap on or craftsman. Yes they break but ill have it replaced that day or fallowing day .

The snappy loosened it up for the icon. You can warranty it next week with your dealer if your account is in good standing. Or if your dealer doesn't shut down or is on vacation.

Look I’m not a snap on fan boy BUT that’s what happens when you use chromies on impacts. I mean I do it too, I’m just not surprised when I break a few every now and then. I’ve been using chrome snap on sockets with a cordless impact since 2005 and I think I’ve only broken two chrome snap ons and three chrome craftsman USA sockets.

If I had a choice I’d but tekton, an American made socket. Warranty works the same, lifetime no questions asked. ICON is a taiwanese made socket, good quality but warranty not always available due to stock issues at Harbor Freight.

Umh yeah I’ve only seen chrome crack from improper use ie on impacts or they’ve been used so many times that the metal has become stressed and weaker overtime

Using the wrong socket. This should be impact sockets only. Yes he did not use an impact but using a long handle breaker bar for impact sockets.

Not saying icon is better than snap on but I will say snap on no longer makes EVERYTHING in America. Not only that but let’s be honest almost $500 for a set of sockets is robbery. Cheap tools aren’t really what they used to be, nowadays sockets are all made of the same Cr-v stuff other than impact sockets (obviously)
