These are real opals. They aren’t stable enough to cut and polish for a piece of jewelry. I slow dry process can be done but even then you’re taking a very big chance. These are more worthy as display pieces. They can be clear or yellowish, orange, black, brown or even have inclusion such as a leaf or stick within them or a phantom opal like the one shown. Phantom opals are still a mystery but a theory that ash was involved. Ethiopian crystal opal were form within ancient volcanoes millions of years old. These are not fake made of plastic like some comments are saying. I’m telling you this and this isn’t even my video. I collect these and cuttable opal rough. You’re here on YouTube so you may as well search Ethiopian opal or Ethiopian crystal opal if you’re going to doubt the person’s claim.

Water opals are so interesting. Their silica structure allows them to absorb water like a sponge. If not kept in water, they’ll dry out and maybe even crack.
