Anything can be “professional” if you do it the “right” way. That’s the whole thing. A professional is someone who’s very good at something or an expert in their field. It’s one thing to sell broken items as is for full price and not tell anyone— that’s unprofessional.
To make short videos explaining why they’re broken, how you can fix them, why they still work, and on top of that making them discounted is nothing short of professional. You’ve figured out a good way to get A) money from what most would trash B) more customers, C) less landfill, and D) More popularity and respect for your smart thinking. If anyone says that is unprofessional…. Then they would be entirely incorrect. 👌

I agree that it's a good idea! Give the broken products a CHANCE to still be used rather than thrown away (*as long as it is broken/faulty in a way that is still SAFE to use, of course*). It's available as an option, but if you aren't comfortable with buying the broken product, then you can stick with the regular version instead!

I think that it is 100% a great idea. You are upfront about the situation that’s just been broken. How many times have companies tried to push off faulty products at full cost? Your palettes are definitely worth the original cost but I have vet expenses so it’s hard to justify spending as much on makeup as I have in the past. The discount made me think, it’s a great product at a lower and it’s probably a bit helpful to you as well so it’s a win-win. Plus it’s nice that it can be pressed back into place. I think this is a very impressive move in your part.

So long as it's always labeled accurately as "Broken" then I think it's the most ethical use of resources. It would be terribly wasteful to toss out boxes and boxes of broken but usable product. As a bonus, your transparency as a business owner is refreshing and a huge draw for me. It makes me feel like I can trust you more than MAC or E.L.F. (plus you have more interesting things.)

That's an excellent idea. You don't waste the product and all the resources put into it while the client knows what they get. They can always buy the full-price one if they don't feel like having a broken product. And for those looking for sales and who don't mind repairing stuff on their own, it is a win. You still earn at least part of the money and they save some money

It's also a lot more sustainable and that's something too many businesses, big and small, disregard.
