At this point when all the "control" cards are legal (they just unbanned snatch steal) they really should revert Brain Control to it's original effect.

Brain Control got banned during the Synchro era. So it wasn't just that you could Tribute Summon (we had Caius and Raiza). You could also use them for Synchro fodder.

I always wondered why they don't just return cards to their pre-errata form after the game has power crept enough. I mean, if change of heart barely sees any play they surely they can return brain control to its original effect?

It's not just ED that's immune. Normi and Semi Normi's like Envoy of the End, Ritual monsters, Judgement Dragon, all these cards are also immune to Brain Con because they cannot be normal/set. And yeah them releasing CoH during the same time or shortly after made this card about as Useful as Goyo Guardian's Earth Tuner errata, which btws you would think is a reference to the Anime where it was synchro summoned only with earth Tuners but nope, one episode Trudge uses the Dark Warrior Tuner Torapart to synchro into Goyo

And the dumbest think about the errata is the fact similar cards like snatch steal & change of heart got to 1 without any errata at all 😂

Back when when Brain Control was busted, it's funny that they thought just being Change of Heart with a life point cost was fine. Current Brain Control might be up there with CED for most heavily nerfed cards, ever.

Idk about niche, I've done some wakey stuff with Change of Heart. Bait out a negate or monster effect then ude Triple Tactics Talent and Change of Heart to take over your opponents board and go for game. Was a fun trick to do to Kashtira well they had Arise since Arise-Hearts add a banished card to itself as material effect was a forced activation. So you could use change of heart to steal a Fenrir, and then Triple Tactics to steal Arise-Heart if your opponent didn't self destruct it, attack with it and then go into Zeus and wipe a full Kash board if you didn't go for game, then proceed into your combo if you had it.

While I think the errata was dumb, it at least gives Brain Control some semblance of identity. Pre-errata it was just Change of Heart but worse, now all three monster steal cards have some unique element to them and, it's not like the new restriction affects it in legacy/time wizard formats, it basically works the same as it would have in 2006.
For what it is, it's one of the most inoffensive erratas.

I use Mark of the Rose for my monster take-overs. Works very well in my Predaplant/Rose Deck.

We can agree that most of the time Erratas that nerf card are trash. Just keep it banned until they're safe because of Power creep, I understand that these was for old cards in other time but man... Brain control pre-errata would be great nowadays, because of the Errata it sucks.
