Love this!! I've definitely heard "I'd rather make Heaven by a mile than miss it by an inch." Among other things. Thank you for this

That is in every legalistic movement. The "better safe than sorry" view leads to condemning nearly everything as worldly

Have you ever heard someone try to push a standard/rule that has no biblical basis by saying, “Wouldn’t you rather be safe than sorry?”

This logic (or lack thereof) implies that we have to guess at what’s required for entry to heaven and follow standards that make no biblical sense “just in case” we’ll be rejected by Christ if we don’t. This mindset distorts the gospel and paints God as confusing, inconsistent, and harsh.

Equally as destructive, it subtly teaches that our salvation is made secure by standards that are “revealed” apart from Scripture. No friends, salvation is through faith in Christ alone. Jesus keeps us—not standards.

“Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.” Jude 1:24–25

Thank you so much for following and leaving us ratings and reviews; we greatly appreciate your feedback.

If you’re still studying Holiness standards, ladies, please consider joining me (Natalie) in our 7-week community group via Zoom where we’re doing just that! We also have a group discussing “Transitioning to a Healthy Church,” led with the help of Aurelio Lessey, a minister who was in the UPCI for 16 years (men and women welcome in this group). We start March 14, so this is your last chance to sign-up!

‘See you soon!

“That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” —Ephesians 2:7–9
