1️⃣ Not Fully Understanding the Product or the Business

If you don't fully grasp the product a business is selling, you can't help them sell it better. Many startups begin designing their landing page before their product is fully developed. In such cases, you still need to spend as much time as possible to deeply understand the product they are creating. Otherwise, you'll face a nightmare. Don't ask how I know. 🙈

2️⃣ Jumping Directly to Using a Template or Web Builder

With so many templates available, why not jump directly to using a Squarespace template? Absolutely not!! Opting for a template can limit your creativity and make you focus on filling in the blanks, instead of designing the overarching flow first. You'll likely want to add customizations later and realize it's too difficult with the chosen template.

3️⃣ Not Investing Enough Time in Talking to Users and Wireframing

Don't rush to high-fidelity designs. Starting by talking to users and iterating on your low-fidelity designs can save you a lot of time in the long run.

As a UX/product designer, I'm still amazed at how much more difficult designing a landing page actually is.
