Jenna go into moult in the fall which causes a drop in eggs. AND, the amount of light each day determines how much they lay. Many hens don't lay at all in the winter.
The light is getting longer now and they start laying.
I have many greens and owned a poultry farm. I buy feed from tractor supply and my hands are doing wonderfully.
You don't want to feed higher protein when it gets warm. It makes them fat and that makes it harder for them to deal with hot temperatures.

Same thing here in Canada. (Different names of feed and suppliers)
I noticed the colour and smell of the feed being different.
My 10 month old hens weren’t laying much, and the older hens were moulting very hard.
I found a different brand that looks and smells like what I used to buy.
Eggs started coming again.

We give them kidney beans cooked in fresh basil or oregano. Oregano is a natural antibiotic and they love it. We dont give them a whole lot but it flavors the beans. We also give them cabbage whenever it is on sale and bok choy has protein and calcium...we grow greens for our hens and have a maggot farm.

Chickens stop laying when they go into molt. Even the best layers only lay around 300 eggs a year
