When ive hung bear bags while backpacking i have only used rocks tied to the rope. I might have to try this next time. Great technique

Nice throw brother. Same double coil throw we used for our heaving lines in Alaska while mooring ships

Good tip. I do the same except I finish the coils with a gasket hitch so If I miss then I don’t have to re-coil. And can manipulate and isolate it on its way back down

I use It all the time at work, especially when I forget the big shot. It really is a great way to get your rope in the trees

U use Prusik knot for climbing up then ?

Very well explained. Some constructive criticism -. Use small butterfly coils

Nice knot, for that use!
if u got a good shooter u can harvest higher old branches, by broking them of frum pulling the rope down and sideways, etc.

Try throwing that line up 50 feet, hope you got good strong tossing throw cause I'm still working on getting line up there too "Y" and fishing line will work bit till line broke on pulling up 1/2" rope.

I use a slingshot and lighter line line with a nut or weight on the end to shoot over the branches. Throwing your rope up might get stuck in the tree.
