If Kubo weren't into drawing manga he 100% would be a fashion designer

For the longest time, I thought that Blue Dragon was a spin-off of Dragon Ball

Yana Toboso, the creator of Black Butler, designed the characters for the visual novel(?) Twisted Wonderland, which is a game by Disney where all of the characters are hot anime guy versions of popular characters and items from Disney stories. It's not the most popular game ever, but it's incredibly interesting to know that she designed characters for something licensed under Disney

Yoshitaka Amano was a character designer for so many 70s animes, illustrator for books like Vampire Hunter D, and Final Fantasy. His artwork is gorgeous.

The creator of Black Butler literally made a game for Disney (Twisted Wonderland, it's still ongoing game)

Akira Toriyama's design, Nobuo Uematsu's music and Hironobu Sakaguchi's production. There's no doubt why they were called the Dream Team in Chrono Trigger's development.

Takeshi Obata, the illustrator of the Death Note manga, also worked on character designs for Castlevania Judgement!

Did you cover Oh My Goddess! creator Fujishima's legendary work for the Tales series? To me, that's the silver medal behind Toriyama for mangakas-as-video game designers.

Another famous time a mangaka worked on a game was when the guy who made death note did all of the character designs for castlevania judgement

Well I find this an interesting topic because it’s like why don’t we get a mangaka writing a video games story if they don’t have much going on

Yana Toboso (video game & anime) & CLAMP (video game, anime & even the costume designs of a theater play) comes to mind. Since you only mentioned male shonen/seinen authors I thought Id share some women 😊

The game Live-A-Live for the SNES has different chapters with different artstyles, and each of its chapters was designed by a different mangaka. The ninja chapter had its character design made by the person who made detective conan
