Since 1959, the Matterhorn Bobsleds in Disneyland (Anaheim, CA) have arguably been the most iconic visual draw of the park, and the sure-fire way to leave you with bumps, bruises, and smiles. 😉

But in 1978, Disney Imagineers added our favorite abominable snowman (Yeti) to the ride and nicknamed him “Harold.”

And then in 2015, the original Harold was removed and replaced with Harold 2.0 which had more movement and lifelike features. And a well groomed beard, I might add.

For the record, the original Harold had a more sinister appearance and legitimately made my blood curl whenever I came across him.

Now, the original Harold stands lifeless up on display for all to gaze upon as you wait in line at The Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout ride in Disney California Adventure.

And let’s be honest, the Matterhorn Bobsleds wouldn’t hold such a high place in our hearts without the presence of Harold.

Cheers to Harold, as he continues to scare young kids to high holy, and bring playful tension amongst families trying to convince their kids to join them on the ride.

Just tell them to close their eyes, and that Harold is only cranky because he can’t find his toothbrush. 🙂
