Can Science and Faith Coexist? Exploring Deep Truths with Professor John Lennox

In this thought-provoking video, dive into the mind of Professor John Lennox, an eminent Oxford mathematician and philosopher who passionately believes that science and faith are not only compatible but deeply intertwined. Discover how Lennox eloquently refutes the notion that science renders God irrelevant, echoing the sentiments of great thinkers like Newton who saw divine design in the universe's complexity. Explore his compelling arguments against the universe creating itself from nothing, a concept he deems logically impossible, and delve into the incredible fine-tuning of our cosmos that suggests an intelligent Creator. Lennox also tackles profound issues of morality and human dignity, asserting that these values stem from the belief that we are made in God’s image and risk losing their foundation without divine acknowledgment. Most powerful of all, Lennox presents Jesus Christ's life, teachings, and resurrection as historical evidence that challenges the finality of death and offers hope beyond atheism. I agree with John that science and religion can "coexist" even though I am a non- believer.

People do it all the time.

I think it's perfectly rational to believe in a deity.

The issue arises when this belief leads to irrational actions or thoughts.

In order to be a theist, a person has to completely disengage any critical thinking skills. Some people, like Lennox, can do this selectively (although I think it must bleed into every aspect of thinking that isn't 100% evidence-based, like mathematics) but the vast majority of theists lack critical thinking skills in most areas of thought. Lennox's arguments are packed to the gills with logical fallacies, a fact that has been pointed out to him on multiple occasions, but he is able to not only ignore his child-like debating tactics but continue using the exact same failed, flawed arguments without a single moment of hesitation. It's pretty disgusting, really.
