The whole point of Yoda's parallel to the original trilogy to the prequel trilogy he leans and teaches Luke the way of the grey but with telling him it was Jedi training so that he can determine for himself which side was good

F O to that. LOTR (og trilogy only) is 1000x better than any of the prequels. I can actually rewatch them so that says a lot. Prequels were unwatchable in the first place.

The character development of Yoda is deep. During the clone wars, yes he was still Himothy. But, one of the only things he did not take into account was just the sheer nature of war.
Conflict breeds anger, hate, fear. All elements of the darkside. By simply starting a war, the darkside already has an edge. This is why he says âfailed I have, go into exile I mustâ so In his mind he knows he will never fight again because he has failed the galaxy.
As to why he trained Luke after he turned into a pacifist. I believe the stakes were just so high at that point he had no choice but to train Luke. Considering he was literally the only Jedi left
