It didn't look like a "half" kick to me, but no one can see it except the officers responding. He's already shown that he may not comply by denying the reality that he's even in the car. He could claim confusion afterwards, but they really don't have time to find out. He's telling them to f' off. Given all this, people still want to be treated with kid gloves. They did what was necessary.

The lady seemed like she had something against the cops from the very beginning. Her first line was "Get this guy out" they go to get him out then she says "I would wait until EMS shows up."

I stopped behind a car that was smoking. I saw smoke coming through the cracks of the glove compartment. I barely had time to pull out the woman before the smoke flashed and the whole interior was filled with flames.
If you see smoke get people out and away from the vehicle quickly. Escalated fast? That officier probably has had a previous experience similar to mine.
