Bro this is wild. I know so many queer people that are like “I mean, if you don’t wanna be different than who you are, than don’t be. Nothing can influence you to change who you *are*.” And that’s the truth. If someone is “Jewish” and say “hey, I believe in Christianity over Judaism, I feel like the beliefs are oppressive and make me hate myself for who I am,” than heck, they’re Christian. If a kid says “hey, I don’t like being a girl, the confines that society puts on women makee me hate myself.” Than guess what? They aren’t a girl. It’s the same thing, and most people in the LGBTQ+ community believe it. I personally think it’s important to expose kids to the community from a positive standpoint because then they’ll know that there’s more out there than “I have to like women.” Or “I have to like men.” If my siblings never came out to me, I wouldn’t even know I could like the same gender. I’m bisexual and I’m proud, and I don’t think the fact my sisters told me they were lesbians changed that, I think it helped me figure out who I am. (The second half is merely my opinion, but the first half is fact)
