I feel like I'm the only one who walked away untraumatised from Clayton's death because my ADHD brain of course had me focus on the knife/machete thing and I completely missed his haunting silhouette for yearsđ

Clayton's death is possibly the best ever version of the trope where the hero tries to save the villain but they reject the help. It's not just misplaced pride or a refusal to admit defeat that seals his fate, it's his mindset of using mindless destruction to solve all his problems without having the foresight to see the literal noose he was creating for himself. Clayton dies because all he knows is killing.

Claytonâs death was definitely traumatizing, but getting eaten alive, burning, and having your body slowly sucked into a black hole of a cauldron are significantly worse fates than hanging.
