Because the joke isnt "about SA". A survivor of SA from Hamas would not be offended by Ethans joke, as he is not making light of SA. He is illustrating how Hasan is minimising and excusing it .
An actual victim could find Hasans dismissal of it as offensive. Not the joke made at Hasans expense for doing so.
