Not every round rock is a dinosaur egg! But they’re still cool. Here’s how to tell a genuine dinosaur egg from a concretion.

Yeah if you have ever seen a snake or lizard egg they look a lot a like… it’s doubtful they would have chosen that much

😂 Those of us with a background in astronomy constantly get asked the question, "Is this a meteorite?!" Very often either concretions or terrestrial ores. There's always that balance between not wanting to ruin the enthusiasm and being so tired of the question.

Would I get smacked if I went up to a geologist or a paleontologist with a dinosaur egg and asked if it was a meteorite

When I was but a lad back in the 70s I read a book about some dudes (in the 30s I think) that embarked on an adventure to Mongolia to find dinosaurs… They found Protoceratops nests complete with eggs and some actual Protoceratops bones too if I remember right. I was fascinated by that book , when I was 6-12 I read everything I could about dinosaurs and paleontology, this was back in the days when you went to the library if you wanted to learn about something…. such fond memories from my youth. Thanks for jarring that memory , haven’t thought of that in ages. I’m gonna see if I can find out the name of that book , should be pretty easy

Look at how centipedes make a layer of stuff around their eggs and I've seen some eggs have crystals it just depends where the minerals came from that seeped in..just saying..when you have giant insects that had body armor well wouldn't the eggs bee different? Maybe some things are cacoons also...think about it..also coal balls well could be eggs or even big seeds we barely know any real information just all guessing..so think about it
