📌📌📌 *ON A SERIOUS NOTE* 📌📌📌
There's an actual community of people in Assam known as the CHUTIA/ SUTIA (চুতীয়া).
Chutia/Sutiya people belong to the Chutia Dynasty which ruled over parts of Assam ( present time Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Tinsukia, and Dibrugarh) and Arunachal Pradesh, Sadiya being the capital of SUTIYAS. They ruled for a period of over 400 years (1187-1524). Later on the the Ahoms annexed the Chutia kingdom after Nityapal suffered loss at the hands of the Ahoms.
The Sutiya Dynasty has major contributions in the cultural heritage of Assam, which is often overlooked.
Not to mention, there's a mockery and prevalent discrimination due to ignorance and the term "chutiya" being often misinterpreted or mistaken or knowingly mocked off due to it being similar to the Hindi slur which is widely known.
I would like to ask you respected Sham Sharma, if you could make your audience aware of this. This little effort of yours would be very helpful in recognition of such small misinformation and misinterpretation thus preventing from degradation of certain surnames or community names.
It really is hurtful when people laugh off at our ancestors or our community, just coz a nonsensical slur used to spread hate is more popularly known to people, rather than a community which actually has its footprint in the history of India and has culturally contributed a lot.
I'd like to see you talk on this. Even a short video would be very beneficial. I urge upon you on this, on behalf of my Sutiya people.
Or at the least you could pin my comment for people to read.
