The Barbara Streisand effect. Apparently in effect since long before its namesake was even born.

There was this poet in ancient China who wrote a poem about how immovable he was and that even the 4 winds couldn’t move him. He was so proud of if that he sent it to his friend across the lake from where he lived and the friend sent an answer that was just the word ‘Fart’. The poet got so angry he travelled all the way to his friends place who said to him “wow, all 4 winds couldn’t move you but one fart did”

In WW1 Germany captured a British ocean liner and disguised it as the Carmania in an attempt to sneak past enemy forces. The first ship the fake Carmania encountered was the real Carmania which promptly sank the imposter

We need someone like this for every president and congressman tbh. Recording every message on their phone and every conversation while in office

Inyeresting Fact: there were 4 offical copies of the Korean historical record, in case something happened to one of them, like a natural disaster. When the Japanese invaded during the Imjin War, 3 of them were destroyed when the Japanese conqued the cities they were housed in. It is only by pure luck the 4th copy survived.

Vietnam back in the day had the same system, there was a famous story of a special family that wrote history for the royal dynasty, there was once instance where a younger brother killed the king and took the throne, he ordered the historian to write that he legitimately ascended to the throne or he’ll chop off his head, he refused and got his head chopped off, his son took over and also refused then got his head chopped off, his son then took over and also refused then said “as long as history exist, we vow to never tell lies no matter what”, the king then backed down and let them wrote the truth.

When the conquistadors built a fully functioning trebuchet, shot it once. It went straight up, and then came straight back down onto the trebuchet, destroying it instantly

Mine favorite is the Cake War

France and México had a lot of tension after México's independence, and the thing that started the war between them was a french baker who got his cake shop destroyed and presented a complaint

My favorite war story is the "Temper, Temper" incident. During The Korean War, funnily enough, the NKs fired upon an American Destroyer-class warship. One hit, but didn't explode. The captain of that ship decided that he didn't want the land housing the NK artillery to exist anymore and gave orders to his men to delete that particular piece of land. Every shell hit and exploded. A captain from another American warship ship saw what happened and radioed two words, "temper, temper."
