Three great actors, Cassavetes, Falk & Gazzara. I remembered when they were in NYC . They were staying at The Park Sheraton Hotel. At the time my husband worked there, hotel security. Well he met them and they were great. My husband said you can tell that they were very close friends.

Notes under the description give the date as Sept. 18, 1970 (a Friday; also the same day Jimi Hendrix died, FYI). The slate at the start of the video indicates that that was the date of taping, and that the episode didn't actually air until a few days later, Monday September 21 (which, as Cavett notes at the beginning, affected the show's available air time due to Monday Night Football, then starting its premiere season on ABC).

years later on Bob Costas show "later" Gazzara spoke of the marathon drinking sessions with the 3 & a 4th but not as often Martin Landau. Gazzara said the work they did was good but there should have been more if the nights hadn`t lasted so long.

These three talented drunks were really determined to give poor Dick Cavett a rough time.

You cant blame them for acting like that after Dick calls them animals and rips Peter Falk about having trouble getting seated!

Dick refers to them as "animals" and makes fun of Peter Falk for not sitting down right away; that plus the fact the 3 of them had been boozing led to all the high jinks and livened up what probably would have been a dull interview.

Lmfao. ....these 3 didn't give a sh*t about Dick Cavett, how they would come across to the audience,or promoting whatever quickly forgotten film they were in.This is borish behavior obviously, but dam this is funny and kinda of unbelievable how the 3 of them just showed drunk af and didn't care.Gazzarra puffing on that cigar while holding a cocktail is classic!

Never work with children or animals.
Or Cassavetes, Gazzara and Falk.
