Pick the one that doesn't burn your bare feet.

As someone who lives in the US Southwest where the sun is unbelievably intense, the PVC (even though it's UV resistant) would last about 2 summers before you could scrape the plastic like and old chair. Ive seen some ok Trex installs but, they tend to shrink and warp a bit. Honestly, real wood with a good stain or a concrete job is your best bet.

As for the colors, I think the white would be an awesome contrast to the house and not look like a giant paint spill.

I’d go with western red cedar. Beautiful wood and can be refinished or recoated. Timber tech and those other composites will get banged up and start to look dull

I’m a fan of sustainability sourced Ipe - Brazilian walnut. I like my big decks to be hard and made of real wood.

A year and half later I am glad I went with Azek. It doesn't get hot. Maintenance is easy. And there is still traction even in winter or when it rains.

Let me tell you, don't ever spray your grill while you're cleaning your composite deck, because the oil/grease droplets stain instantly and cannot be removed. My daughter was helping me power wash the deck last year and thought she'd help by cleaning the grill too. My deck now looks like shit and there's nothing I can about it except replace the Timber tech boards:(

No, not made at my daughter for not knowing, at least she was helping and not sitting on her butt looking at her phone.

Depends on your palette, salt flat if you want to brighten the area up, or whiskey barrel if you want a darker flow.

I like the French white oak! I am trying to decide what to use on my house and the three factors I’m considering in Canadian Climate is : Traction during rain/melting snow, light colour for lower sunlight absorption and heat on bare feet, and colour for aesthetics.

Just did an 800sq deck with trex enhance naturals toasted sand. White Aluminum railing, black balusters, trex drink rail. Existing off-white vinyl siding. Pennsylvania climate

Color depends on how you will also finish and what else is around (trees, etc). If you want a different color for picture frame and stair treads.

If you want an actual wood grain look vs uniform color.

Id highly recommend the trex enhanced (lower cost) and my house isn't an "architecture grade" property.

Good luck!!

Azek is the only one that makes a product with cooling technology, so it won't get as hot as the others during the summer. It also has a 50yr warranty and has a high fire rating

Through watching another builder channel, Perkins Builder Brothers, I came across another decking product that looks quite good, DuxxBak® Composite Decking. It is a mineral composite decking and has built in drainage

Salt Flat with a double border and facia in slate grey.
Like the new porcelain tiles over PVC and Composite. Forever for sure.

Honestly I would do a composite, my guys install this stuff for a living. PVC miter joints will always open more in the cool days vs a composite. Plus the darker you go the hotter it is to walk on without shoes. Coast line is a nice one but so is coconut husk. My tip, try and limit the use of 45° if you can.

Personally, I like Trex products because they use recycled plastics as part of their manufacturing process. They pick up (in NJ by me) plastic film waste (like the bags frozen vegetables come in).

There were a couple that matched real well but I really believe that the blunt contrast youd get from one of the white ones would transform the whole property beautifully. As far as materials, i havent a clue. But if you have the money, go all out on one that wont have to be replaced again in your lifetime. Durable, scratch resistant, etc.

Jeff, have you checked out Deckorators? They are mineral composite boards with a structural warranty. I'd recommend factoring them in. Regarding your current selection;
1 - Jasper
2 - Coast Line or Biscayne
4 - Castle Gate

Like the lighter colors a lot - have stepped on too many dark decks with bare feet! I think the composite is good, but as you said, this is the "forever" home. Go for the best color with the longevity you want...
