Hereβs a quick check list for police to remind themselves of every day before they go to work.
1. The Supreme Court of the United States has stated that citizens have the right to use any language they so desire when addressing us, the police, because the constitution has granted them freedom of speech; so grow some skin.
2. If Iβm going to detain someone I MUST HAVE a clear articulate suspicion as to what I think there up to and be able to articulate that suspicion to my detainee.
3. I must know if my state has a stop and ID law that is a statue in the books and only after I detain a person and the statute exists can I detain them and ask them for their ID.
4. I must know if there is another statute on the books that because I am a public servant that I must cordially provide my name and badge number.
5. I must be fully knowledgeable in what constitutes public property and where all said boundaries and easements for said property and what it means for a person with a camera.
6. Because my salary is paid for by American tax dollars that I and my vehicle may be filmed and/or recorded to a point where I am completely pissed off about it but that I shall remain in a constant deescalatory mode of behavior at all times.
7. Read the constitution and learn to politely engage these auditors in their own game. Work smarter not harder.
