Not the AH, the AHs are the parents for not disciplining the son to respect her privacy. They are sending him the wrong message. The dad is a total ass. Good for her for taking initiative to put in the slide lock!!! IDK but these parents totally tick me off for not taking her complaints seriously and raising a douche of a son.

Not the booty hole! If she were an only child and the parents had like a 'no closed doors unless you're changing clothes' type of rule, then it'd be a different story. She's literally having her privacy invaded, though! This isn't 'playing' or a harmless prank! They're walking in on her changing without regard for her and the parents are letting it go like they think it's a 'boys will be boys' thing! And who knows how far some of these brother's 'friends' might go if they're already willing to barge in on her like that? It could very well become a safety issue, and everyone has a right to protect themselves! OP did NOTHING wrong by putting a lock on her door! Now if she wants to have something to lock the door without making holes or something in the future, she DOES have options; there are these bars you can get that prop up under the doorknob and press against the floor on an angle, so anyone trying to get in is literally fighting themselves. There are also portable locks you can get at Dollar General that are meant for traveling and using in hotel rooms. If the parents take THOSE away, then next step is to set up a camera and record them coming into her room uninvited and get the law involved, because at this point it's a literal safety issue!

Such a beautiful jar! And I totally agree, I can't imagine having family that is ok with family members, especially of the opposite sex, barge in like that. My upbringing had some abuse but I at least got to keep my privacy. I'd let them know how absolutely messed up it is for their 15 year old son to walk in on their 17 year old daughter changing. I'd remind them that a 17 year old body isn't the same as a 7 year olds. That if they are ok with that level of perversion to expect very little contact with me after my 18th birthday. I'd already start looking for new arrangements and getting a job so I have money. This is so gross, I hope OP is ok because her family is weird.

100 nta. Her parents and brother are. Also, just if anyone else is dealing with this, they have sticks you can put under the door to prevent people from opening the door. They work really well, are cheap, and require no drilling or altering of any kind. We use it on our front door of our apartment, and it's kept the landlady out on a few occasions!

Where are her parents from? Cave era?
I've been there myself when my mom insisted I do not lock the washroom door and my maternal uncle casually walked by and checked me out instead of looking away... I was thirteen!!
How could she have been so naive is beyond my wits, still β€
Obviously, for many years my relationship with her was strained... She was regretful thereafter. Mu house was dysfunctional from many aspects β€ She is no more and we became best of the friends later before she was gone β€
Sadly, this story took me to that time β€β€
Amazing jar π My fave colo

Nah, not in the wrong. Regardless if that is her brother, he still needs to respectfully knock. And for the parents to not side with the DAUGHTER on this it really makes them the A-hole. It's privacy and for them to not understand that shows the type they are. But to say she "ruined" the door is a bit excessive.

OMG that is so inappropriate! My father nor my brother ever walked into my room without my permission. My little brother caught his friends spying on me while I was asleep one night. My door had been shut but it wasn't locked. My little brother knocked his friend down a flight of steps. When my dad jumped up and asked what was going on, my little brother hold our father that his friend did that and obviously ended up being praised for protecting me

Her brother and his friends are coming into her room whenever they wish. Even when she might be changing. That's horribly inappropriate and DANGEROUS. Certainly, if the parents arenβt home during this. If the parents taught their son to knock and to have some respect for his sister, the door frame would be fine. Sounds like its their fault.π How would the mother like it if her sons friends walked in on her changing? I don't think she would enjoy that either. So why should the daughter endure it? Also why is the brother that concerned about not being able to access his sister's room? Thats weird as hel
