The deadlift is an excellent compound exercise that will primarily strengthen your legs, back and glutes.
Here is 5 steps for a proper deadlift.
1. Step with your feet shoulder width apart. Stand with your feet 1 to 2 inches from the bar.
2. Grab the bar just outside of your knees and drive your knees against your arms.
3. Bend your knees until your shins touches the barbell.
4. Align your ribs and hips. Brace your core, extend your chest and flatten your back. (Neutral spine from start to finish)
5. Push down on your feet and go up until you pass your knees, drag the barbell up your legs and thrust your hips forward to finish the lift.
To go back to start position, unlock your hips and slowly move your hips backward until the bar passes your knees, then bend your knees and slide along your chin to return to start position.
