봉은사에서는 생전예수재의 전통을 계승 발전시키기 위하여 사단법인 생전예수재 보존회를 설립하였으며, 생전예수재 활동을 지원하는 명실상부한 한국전통문화로 보존함을 목적으로 지난 2017년 6월 설립되었습니다. 또한 2019년 9월에는 서울특별시 무형문화재 보유단체로 지정되어 매년 봉은사 개산대재 기간에 생전예수재를 설행하고 있습니다.
