This volume was my first self-published book created in the late 90s featuring art commissions by Rafael Lopez (Smithsonian National Museum of the American Latino), (Gorge R. Gutierrez (Book of Life), Charles Glaubitz (Museo Carrillo Gil Mexico City), Joe Sorren, and Eric Rippert (Cleveland Museum of Art).
I was first introduced to the idea of Guapo y Fuerte by artists and friends from Tijuana. They had taken me on a trek through Mexico, and along the way, we were treated to a Lucha Libre event. The spectacle was life-changing, and I quickly returned to my childhood watching El Santo.
Guapo y Fuerte sold out quickly and would later be expanded as a museum exhibition in San Jose, California, featuring fifty artists.
