Just by simply smoothing the harsh shadows made it 10x better

Lots improved but I kinda like the eerie intensity of the original

Man shading and lighting is such a mind boggling thing to try and understand as a beginner especially for human related forms. Literally a few strokes and very minor adjustments made it look 20x better.

Wow didn't even know she had hair at first. It was perfectly blended with the background

These before and after shots always get me. I always think the og looks fine and like you're doing minor changes until it flips back to the old one

I definitely think the eyes made the biggest difference in terms of attractiveness. The shading isn’t wrong perse, it’s just very stylised. I feel like the more realistic shading may be prettier but has less character to it. 🤔

Allowing the hood and hair to be more visible definitely helped, though

i kinda like the before one because it reminded me of dark horror game, if they use their art properly, i could see that the game would be pretty successful

I couldn't put my finger on what looked wrong until you added shadows to the eyes! Crazy how the littlest things can make the biggest difference.

other things he did that he didnt say, in case anyone didnt get the same results:
-shaved off some of the jaw on the right side
-softened the curve to the jaw on the left
-changed the shape of the nose by squishing the nostrils
- softening the peaks of the lips
- ever so slightly making the chin smaller
- curved the eyebrow on the right side down a smidge
- made the lower eyelids slightly smaller

A message to David: You're really fucking good and have a very unique style. A lot of the improvements made here are not mandatory and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Man, I love these! I often feel like my art is close, like the ones in these videos, but I can't put my finger on what they need to look better. These videos give me hope that maybe I'm not as far off as I feared.

I actually think the eyelashes should’ve been white from the light and not black but otherwise it is for sure improved (I just like the aesthetic of light hitting lashes and making them look really light so it’s just a personal preference)

small detail but I noticed that the reflections in her eyes don't match the lighting. love the improvements here, there is soo much to learn

structurely and porportional and stuff it was really good, but with the shading adjusted. and the other minor adjustments, she went from spooky to goregous. like wow.
