It's weird that even though it's in the key of G major, it sounds wrong if it's purely in that key. It actually sounds more natural to be purely in minor if you had to choose between the two.

While experimenting myself I often don‘t dare to use chords that are not in the intended key. Maybe I should. Changing for example a B minor to B major works well usually, isn‘t it?
