It’ll help with depression. You’re making yourself look better by doing acutane!

The only long lasting side effect I had was chapped lips, but I do it again in a heartbeat, it is the ONLY medication that cures acne

Im 42 years old and strugle with back acne at 42! While effective, this drug is serious business and side effects are not to be ignored, esp when it comes to all over joint and muscle pain and suicude and depression. I've experienced both. I did not realize some of the ultra serious effects, I thought it was just me because I normally do adjust pretty well to medications. I have been on this medication pretty regularly, over 2 years. Although currently a 3 day a week regime but at this point im backing down.

There are 2 studies published in pubmed, showing that it reduces igf-1 secretion and chondrocyte cell proliferation in the growth plate cartilage. Both are responsible for bone elongation.

After 2 courses of roaccutane as a youth it finally cleared my acne after trying all the usual creams and tablets initially prescribed by my doctor. Roaccutane is the last resort but definitely effective! I can now be prone to dry and flaky skin and have to moisturise sometimes twice a day but it’s only the area where I had the acne that suffers this. Change in weather seams to cause particular dryness where I can struggle to prevent flaking and sometimes a little soreness. Sun exposure and sunbed usage helps my skin tremendously.
All in all the benefits far outweigh the side effects in my personal experience and I would 100% recommend anyone to use this medication to address their acne!

A relative on my dad's side took accutane and then developed T1 diabetes. They blamed accutane. But 3 other relatives on his side also developed T1D without taking accutane. And so did I. Clearly it's genetic and not caused by accutane. You can see how these things lead to misconceptions.

It has fried my hair(kinking of the hair) and gave me idiopathic intracranial hypertension. Of course thinned hair as well.

The only thing that scares me are the links to ibs. I don't want to trade good skin for a permanently inflamed gut.

Hi. Roaccutane made me go crazy. I ended up in L.A maximum security prison and solitary confinement at 18 years of age. I spent 3-4 months with Psychosis. Now at 44 I have ailments that are almost certainly from the drug. Roche the company that made Roaccutane is corrupt as all hell.

Thank you so much Doctor, I’ve been shyed away from using accutane bc i have a history with therapists but after 2 or 3 years, i recognize that ACNE is contributing to my mental uneasiness.
