The irony is that the only people who say this are also not doctors.

People who throw shade at nurses need to experience going to the hospital and not having any nurses do anything for you, you'll find out real quick how important they are

I love that analogy! Nobody would assume a flight attendant would want to be a pilot but for some reason some folks think nurses and doctors are like apprentices and tradesmen.

Imagine being so privileged that you are willing to look down on the person taking care of you, FOR TAKING CARE OF YOU.

When people judge others' career choices, they don't take into consideration that there are many facets to this running smoothly. Everyone's job is important. Not everyone has the same goals and ambitions. I would never be a nurse. Not ever for any reason, but I appreciate those who've chosen that career for the benefit of all. We all have a purpose here, and we should honor everyone's individual place and choice in their career paths. Unless it's illegal then we should just be mad. Lol

Nurses can make or break a hospital stay. I just got released after a surgery and one of my nurses was absolutely amazing. He carried me through a horrible, traumatizing, and painful experience. I don’t know if I could have made it through without him.

As a board licensed vet tech, I heard "you're so lucky, I would love to get paid to play with dogs all day." I got the "why don't you go to vet school?" often as well. 😒

It is as easy as, nurses have their role and responsibilities, doctors have their role and responsibilities. Some like one role, others like the other. They are a team. Not a one vs the other.

I was in the hospital for an extended period of time. The nurses were who cared for me. I saw doctors for a few minutes and poof they were gone. The nurses gave me tips and tricks to deal with my issues from all their experience and it helped me so much. Nurses are the foundation and they are the ones i want on my side. In the office, the receptionist, nurses are the ones to schedule and explain things to me. Doctors are important but so are nurses. Never disrespect.

my mom is a nurse and she deals with elderly patients so she gets the “too dumb for medical school” line all the time

she just says “I’m smart enough to be the one administering the medication, so you’d better be careful who you’re talking to.” as she puts in an IV. her management doesn’t love it but it shuts them up.

My mother was an RN and the doctors respected her and often conferred with her re diagnosed. She worked cardiac care and was director of nurses after she got her degree. I learned a lot from her and have always been very proud of her success.

Wow 😮 I didn't know people thought that. We NEED BOTH doctors and nurses. Also, We need males and females in BOTH professions

Nurses are very important and do way more than you think. They don’t just bathe patients or “wipe asses”. Granted nurses in hospitals do way more than nurses in nursing homes do (seen and experienced this myself) but you have your good and bad nurses everywhere you go. Good nurses like good doctors are the ones that listen to you and care.

I am a registered nurse. I work in oncology
. I feel I was called to it, and I love it.
I never wanted to be a doctor. However, I respect them very much.

I like the audacity of them saying that as they’re being taken care of by a nurse

To me, raised around a hospital where my mother was The Pharmacist, nursing was fascinating. Only old guys were Doctors. Then I came to learn from many of my friends who became specialist Nurses was that becoming a Doctor was incredibly expensive in terms of money and time. They could do so much with their initial degrees and get help for their Masters Degrees and even one PhD! Try Military Service if you want it!

When my daughter went through nursing school, I was shocked at how much she needed to know/learn!

That's very interesting. As a pizza guy no one has ever really underhandedly insulted my occupation.

I had a hip replacement with a great surgeon, and the nursing staff were just as stellar! Thank you, nurses!
