Hey everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend and are doing well on this Monday! Today's short is from one of my favourite drummers of all time (whether his early work with Genesis and his amazing prog work, or the later Genesis straight rock/pop rock and then his solo work and incredible studio work with multiple artist, both credited and uncredited) ...and yes he is a drummer first and foremost regardless of his amazing singing career. It's always been about his incredible swing behind the kit that gets me. This one - "I Don't Care Anymore", has ways been one such track. From 1982, and his 2nd solo album effort - Hello, I Must Be Going. It's just one of many killer (drum) tracks on this album. I was blown away when I heard his first solo lp, Face Value...and this one didn't disappoint. Admittedly from a pure drummer point of view. I can't even have a different point of view if I tried on his work. Honestly! I think he is criminally underrated as a drummer. Unfortunately all his work with poor posture over the years, has caught up with him and he can no longer provide us with his amazing playing. Thankfully we have a great catalogue to appreciate over and over. I recently watched a great video put together buy Drumeo featuring Phil interviewed primarily by his son Nicholas Collins (also an incredible drummer).
