Given the poor education provided by the pre-licensure PT program, one that continues to focus on viewing the human health condition as if a machine that requires "fixing" (and therefore requiring a PT to jump in and save the person from themselves), is it any wonder that physios are poor at communication? People are not structures, yet PT is bolted into a retrograde approach to healthcare stuck in the 1960s, still ignorant of psychology and sociology, still requiring that students memorize anatomy as if this would unlock the mysteries of pain, when the evidence does not support much of anything that physios do. PT programs teach to the exam, and when so many physios are quitting the profession because there is such a low intellectual ceiling, then what do you expect? Physio, the profession, is going to get eaten for lunch as the public gains access to refined iterations of AI, cutting out the middleman. ChatGPT has already demonstrated how it can compete with medical doctors in diagnosis and even measures of empathy. How will PT ever hope to survive this when already there exists the democratization of health info on the Internet, where, ex, every exercise known to humankind is on YT, FREE!
