Here, where I live, you should have deep pockets as that will most likely involve lawyers - there's a lot of fine print protecting these companies and allowing them to essentially scam the users by not giving discounts when service goes offline for days and allowing them to stick "minimum guaranteed speeds" in your face which are so low that you are better off bringing serialized web request in a flash drive to the server location where your request was intended to go and get a reply there. Essentially, we hardly ever hit a problem of company given hardware being insufficient - it's the companies that are keen on sort of "unionizing" together in order to keep the costs high among them so there's no real "clear choice".

Asus routers have built-in Internet speed test option, use that to determine if its the ISP at fault or not, its last tab on the right at the Adaptive Qos menu option, that speed will reflect the actual ISP speed because it excludes the LAN connections.
