What I love most about Isaac in this conversation is how he says,âWhat?â, he genuinely hadnât thought of himself as a leader until the captain told him he was. The shopkeep, the captain, and even Dracula all saw something in Isaac that he himself hadnât been able to see, once Isaac opened up his eyes to the true nature of his being, he began to change significantly.

And when the Captain was talking about the world being a cruel place he didn't say "we've all been cruel at times." He said, "I've Been Cruel." God is occasionally referred to in The Bible as simply, "I Am."
Now I'm not saying I believe the Captain is supposed to be God. But with the way the character is written and the way the Captain was literally just waiting on the docks for Isaac to arrive I'm saying it's possible. And that's good enough for me. đđž

In a way this sea captain is like Isaac's Lisa. A human with the courage to touch the heart of a "monster" (and let's be honest, Isaac's power is monstrous) and lead him to a better ideal, a constructive way to use his power, for the better. Destroy the old world if you must, but leave a better new one behind you. And if you just teach the people, they'll tear down that old world themselves because they'll see it through new eyes. Eyes you gave them.
