Nice to have in the toolbox, but the standard b chord is beautiful, especially when you can play it with out unintentionally muting strings. Vince Gill loves him a b chord!

For beginners who finds the "new bmaj chord" hard, just play the b chord using the e-shape that barres on the 7th fret

The "E-shape" B chord is also worth knowing (and easier imo):
6-8-8-7-6-6
And easier still if you just play the 4 higher notes or the triad.

You could leave the high E open and it still sounds good.

I see allot of comments about hand size, my hands are small and I play 7 string so thymb over isnt an option. Still there are many ways to mute the other strings. You can let your finger on the 6th (G# a.k.a. 13th) touch the open E to mute it and tou have a pinky free if your hand isnt muring your high E under the open root. Calling a major key boring and substituting it with a B 9 (13) is comparingvtwo different chords by the way.

Thanks for the info bro those campfire chords do get old. Yall need to experiment with frequencies as well. Try tuning down to 432 hertz (instead of the "cold" A4=440 hertz standard) or up to 444 hertz if you like the bright sound.
