I went to a talk 5 years ago by a bones expert who had done forensic and science analysis of bones of someone buried by tradition where local King's were buried. She said he had been very strong and muscular and died by a weapon wound. His bones had grown bigger over the years through the muscle use and forces on them. Especially the ends of the bones where the muscles and tendons are attached.

I was once walking through Kennington South London with my academic auntie. We passed an enclosed grass lawn and she said 'oh that where the late medieval compulsory archery practice was".

My recurve is rated at 100lb draweight. Medieval bows went up to twice that.

I heard the longbowmen were originally Welsh.

Arrows from an English longbow could absolutely pierce armor, but even with a 200lb draw weight there are still a lot of asterisks.

One made for war
Other for hunting
M2 browning machine gun is so effective
Ruger American Rifle is much worse than it
So, we lost the ability to make and use better weapons than ww2 guns
