Every time i hear resume advice it contradicts half of what ive heard before. Im getting the impression that maybe, just maybe, this whole thing is a nonsense battle of one-upmanship and none of you have any actual clue what you're talking about.

Every piece of advice about resumes you've received is known to recruiters, and is treated as a red flag. There is no "right" way to write a resume, just a succession of wrong ways that reveal your age.

Nope this is wrong...resume should be two pages max. Stsrt with your name, then your qualifications (such as degree course) then. Cover your work experience then finally if ther eis room some skills like IT skills. Keep it straightforward. Dont easte tome on a summary or list of skills. Emploers will see it as waffle.

I left my resume online, un-updated for 4 years with all these mistakes and had 3 job offers come in the other day all for my old field of work that I not longer do and have since moved on from completely.
Apparently I was a very promising hirer for two of them and they wanted me to start right away lol.

As someone who hires for my place of business, I skip all of that and go straight to the experience. If the experience is there, I might go back and see what all the stuff I skipped says. If the resume is more that a page or so, it's always because it's been padded. "Personal branding" needs to be done with design choices, not paragraphs of text, and you best believe I'd better be able to see what skills you are bringing to the job, best exemplified through your past experience.
