If you are going to be away from your email for a while, you can set up an auto-reply message or a vacation responder in Gmail. This will automatically send a reply to anyone who emails you during the specified period, letting them know that you are not available and when you will return. Here are the steps to configure an auto-reply message or a vacation responder in Gmail:

1. Open Gmail and click on the gear icon in the top right corner. Select See all settings from the menu that appears.
2. In the Settings page, go to the General tab and scroll down to the Vacation responder section.
3. Check the box next to Vacation responder on to enable it.
4. Enter the dates for your vacation in the First day and Last day fields. You can also leave the Last Day field blank if you are not sure when you will be back.
5. Enter a subject and a message for your auto-reply in the Subject and Message fields. You can use plain text or formatting options like bold, italic, etc. You can also insert links, images, emojis, etc. by clicking on the icons below the message box.
6. If you want to limit your auto-reply to only people in your contacts list, check the box next to Only send a response to people in my Contacts. If you want to limit your auto-reply to only people within your organization (if you use Gmail for work or school), check the box next to Only send a response to people in my organization.
7. Click on Save Changes at the bottom of the page to activate your auto-reply message or vacation responder.

You can edit or turn off your auto-reply message or vacation responder at any time by following the same steps and making the changes you want. You will also see a banner at the top of your inbox reminding you that your auto-reply message or vacation responder is on and giving you the option to turn it off.
