For metric system :
((Avg diff in kg) * 1600) / 7
1lb = 0.453592kg, 0.453592x3500 = 1587.572, round up to 1600 to get higher than actual deficit, down to 1500 to get lower than actual deficit for easier calculation.
Higher estimates show ~3,752 cal per lb, which gives closer to 1700, Lower estimates show ~3,436 cal per lb, which gives closer to 1550, so 1600 seems to be a good sweet spot.
Also this is assuming you are loosing/gaining weight which is mostly fat, so water weight gain/loss may lead to higher error.
